I know several of you use this tuner, Does any of our forum vendors carry them or have a link for a good deal on one?

Michael,
I have a VS - II and like it. However I use it only for tunning up. Can I recommend, for a little more, the Petersen 490? I have the Petersen ST-490 ( stretch tune capability - which I never use). The 490 is an excellent tuner and IMO much better than the VS-II it stabilizes better and I think for that reason is more acurate. It is also easier to read. The VS-II, as you probably already know, is a digital strobe tuner. that means the strobe mechanism is not a true "strobe" but rather an image generated by (whatever). My point is I much prefer the real Strobe and it isn't all that much more considering you will own it for ever ( well along time anyway). I do alot of intonation work as a Feiten retro installer as well as a repair/maint. shop. I think the 490 is great! I think if you go to Petersen's site you can get a list of dealers. By the way the people at Petersen are great to deal with. Realy nice and fast service.

I just bought one from Musicians Friend for $219, and while I was there I got a pretty good deal on a ten pack of these strings.
I love the tuner since I didn't have one. It seems to be very acurate and it's easy to use, I also bought the clip on pickup for $10. I did some shopping around and that was the best price I found.

I just went to Woodwind Brasswind (http://www.wwbw.com/Peterson-490-Tuner-i15518.music?source= froogle) to check on Price...Wow! I must have forgot how much I paid. JH said M.F. is selling the VS-II for $219. that's MUCH less than the 490...on sale for $469. I guess the choice is easy.

I feel the same way...that's why I was recommending it. BUT it is a lot of money. WHy does everything have to cost so much. Especially in a business where everyone tries to help each other. Thank God we do help each other or we would realy be in a tough profession!!
